One turn

See every roll

Here is one turn from a real fight: a level 3 fighter and a companion against a ghoul. Each roll is shown with the numbers behind it, just as you'd see it in the game.

The game's roll pop-up: a d20 and a d8 are thrown in 3D and come to rest on a 17 and a 6. 17 + 5 makes 22 against armour class 15, a hit, and 9 slashing damage
The dice are thrown in 3D, then the pop-up shows the numbers behind the roll.
Round 1 · Brin, a level 3 fighter (AC 18, 28 HP), and a companion against a ghoul (AC 12, 22 HP)
  1. Brin attacks d20 19 + Str 3 + proficiency 2 = 24 vs AC 12 hit A d20, plus Brin's Strength and proficiency, against the ghoul's armour class.
  2. Damage 1d8+3 1 + 3 = 4 slashing Ghoul 22 → 18 HP The longsword's die plus Strength, taken off the ghoul's hit points.
  3. The ghoul's claws d20 17 + attack bonus 4 = 21 vs AC 18 hit · 2d4+2 21 + 2 = 5 slashing The monsters roll too, with the numbers from their SRD stat block.
  4. Constitution save d20 3 + Con save 4 = 7 vs DC 10 failed paralysed Brin fails the save and is paralysed. He can't act, attacks against him have advantage, and he tries the save again at the end of each of his turns.

The ghoul's numbers are from SRD 5.1, and the fight was played under SRD 5.1's rules. More about the dice
